THESIS STATEMENT:

While most reality shows are  not beneficial, I am compelled to the argument of allowing reality television to continue to air in America's media.

SOURCE REFERENCE PARAGRAPH:

(P1)Reality Television Statistics, a website from JobMonkey.com that shares statistics about reality television, presents a compelling argument for sustaining reality television in America's media. (P2)The statistics from JobMonkey.com show that reality television is important to teenage girls who watch it: "One report indicates that for girls ages 12 - 17 years old, 3 out of 4 of their favorite television shows were reality TV shows." (P3)This clearly shows that reality television should not be banned because it may be incredibly important to some and is watched frequently around the world. (P2)Ashia Sims, the author of How to Get on a Reality Television Show, gives a prime example of how reality television may aid someone in their life: "If possible, research the show you want to be on." (P3)With this, someone who enjoys reality television and wants to be a part of it is shown how to work hard for what they desire unlike other television genres. (P4)Although reality television may seem excessive to some, it assists people with everyday life in many ways.

                                                        THESIS STATEMENT:

Reality TV shows should be banned because of the negatives effects it put on children and other adults.

                                            SOURCE REFERENCE PARAGRAPH:

(P1) Hard to Find Hard Work, Sonya Stevenson's book about teaching children to work hard, present an compelling argument about how reality shows send bad messages to children and adults. (P2) Stevenson argues that anybody will receive a thought that says you don't need to work hard to be on TV: "These programs suggest that anyone can become famous just by getting on TV and "being themselves", without working hard or having any particular talent." (P3) Because of this, most people are now thinking of being on a reality show, instead of being something/someone that can help better this world. (P2) She also argues that reality TV shows send a message to children that says you don't need to do good in school or an specific job: "Kids who watch these shows will get the idea that they don't need to study hard in school, or train hard for a regular job." (P3) If this does compel children to do that, the world will be less better than it is right know and it would be the reality TV shows to blame. (P4) In conclusion, reality shows should be banned in order for the children to be able to work hard in everything they do and/or dream to do.

                                                        THESIS STATEMENT:

Reality television should not be banned from American television because they are not all bad and they are simply for entertainment.

                                            SOURCE REFERENCE PARAGRAPH:

(P1) Know your show, William Tell's book about different reality television shows, presents a convincing argument for not banning reality television. (P2) Tell argues that some reality shows are bad, but not all of them: "Some reality programs are bad, taking advantage of people in nasty ways, but many are good." (P3) You can't label all shows because of a select few. (P3) Some people are bad, but that doesn't mean that we should ban all people from America because not all people are bad. (P2) Tell also argues that reality television can have a positive influence on society: "Reality television has just as much potential as shows with scripts to be a positive influence on society." (P3) All scripted shows do not have positive influences, and we aren't considering banning them. (P3) Even some cartoons send off the wrong message to its viewers, so if we ban reality shows, we might as well ban the rest of the television programs. (P4) Reality television should not be banned simply because if we ban them for some of them being bad influences, we would have to ban all other types of shows as well.
