THESIS STATEMENT:

Downloading music should not be illegal because when you stealing something and copying music are two different things and copying music should never be illegal.

SOURCE REFERENCE PARAGRAPH:

(P1) Art in America Tyler Woodard's book about appreciating art gives a convincing argument for making copying music legal. (P2) Tyler Woodard argues stealing is when you take something away from someone and the previous owner cant use it anymore: "Theft always involves a thief taking something away for themselves with the result that the original owner can't use it anymore."(P3) Instead of making it illegal for all if the government really wants to stop people from downloading music they should get the publisher who is sending out this music to us (P2) Tyler Woodard also argues just because we take the music and copy the original owner still has it so we haven't stolen from them:" You download a copy from an original, but the first owner still has the original on his or her computer, and can still enjoy it." (P3) When people download music they are doing it for a good use it is not like they are taking it and saying it is theirs such as copy right they are simply copying it and giving the artist their condolences for it. (P4) Essentially downloading music is a form of entertainment ad the artist should be happy regardless of how much money they are making and not see it as a form of an illegal act, so downloading music should be legal.

THESIS STATEMENT:

Downloading music should not be illegal because art is an universal language that everyone has the right to use.

SOURCE REFERENCE PARAGRAPH:

(P1) Art in America , Tyler Woodand's book about appreciating art presents a convincing argument for making downloading music legalized.(p2) Woodand argues that allowing people to use another version of the artist music doesn't hinder them from reusing the product in the future: " Music files are "non- rival" goods, meaning that my use of the goods does not diminish your future use of it." (P3) Woodand is correct with his theory about why people should be able to download music legally. This is because if the artists are able to reuse their piece of literature again than they should not be worried about losing money. Furthermore, the artists are only putting two songs out that will allow the person to become drawn to their artistic abilities. (P2) Woodand goes on to say that allowing people to view/ hear your masterpiece will make the artist self esteem to rise due to the fact of people enjoying their work of art: I compliment you on it [music] because I also think it [ music] is a special work. (P3) When you use music from the artist, you are not disrespecting the artist because you are admiring the work of that person. In fact, the artist should be proud that his/or her fans want to use their music for their good.(P4) Downloading music should be legalized, for more people can display their work, and more people can become interested in that artist.
